WOQOD Introduces Safety Regulators for LPG Cylinders

December 17, 2008
Doha … December 2008 - Qatar Fuel (WOQOD) today announced the introduction of a new, safer and more convenient regulator for small 12-kilo LPG cylinders; to be gradually introduced to the market over the next 12 months.

Nasser Fakhroo, WOQOD’s Operations Director stated “The new LPG regulator is further evidence of WOQOD’s intention to introduce new innovative products and services to our customers. We have researched solutions globally to improve safety and add convenience to our customers and are assured that the new regulator exceeds our expectations. This new system has been reviewed and approved by the Qatar Standards Authority”

The regulator requires the replacement of the valve in existing 12kg LPG cylinders. This will be done by WOQOD and will take about 12 months to convert the estimated 600,000 plus cylinders in circulation across Qatar today. The new regulator will be available to customers from their existing LPG supplier along with new hoses to connect to cookers and converters should the customer require one. They will also be available through WOQOD service stations.

“There are a number of positive advantages to the new regulator,” added Fakhroo. “Connecting to a new LPG cylinder is simple, just by pressing down. No tools are required and gone are the days of needing a spanner to connect your cooker to the cylinder. The regulator cannot be unintentionally disconnected from the cylinder and the new valve in the cylinder will not release LPG unless the regulator is connected properly. In addition, the regulator will shut off the flow of LPG to your cooker if pressure is too high, which could occur, for instance, through a ruptured gas tubing or if the gas tubing is pulled off from the cooker. It is also equipped with a safety system to release cylinder overpressure and another system that cuts off the gas flow when detecting leakage from the hose. ”

Comprehensive details of the new LPG regulator are available at all WOQOD service stations and LPG-Gas cylinder distributors.
